Epsilon Alpha Sigma is proud to recognize Rita Khoury as our 2020 Empowered Arab Sister of the year, for her dedication to the organization and her spirit. Rita has only been in Epsilon Alpha Sigma for a little over a year, but her contributions to the Beta chapter have been significant. Rita is currently the Director of Finance at the chapter at University of California, Davis, and she always goes above and beyond in that role and many others. Since the chapter is so small in terms of members, most of executive board has been needing to take on other responsibilities and chair positions, and Rita has taken on creative chair where she designs potential merchandise for the girls.  The president of the Beta chapter, Paige Husary, states that she can text Rita at any time of the day and she will always respond within 5 minutes with help to solve any problem. In addition, Rita has an extremely creative eye, and she is amazing at designing all of the social media posters and signs.

Rita is definitely proud to be a part of Epsilon Alpha Sigma, she constantly spreads the word about the organization through her social media posts and reposts, and wears her merchandise with pride.  In addition, she knows many people in the Arab community at University of California, Davis, and constantly encourages people to join the Empowered Arab Sisterhood. Rita is very involved in her church and in a Palestinian/Jordanian Youth group, which connects youth from all different churches. She has lots of connections from her involvement in her church and has introduced the rest of her sisters to many Arab girls over the past year.

Rita has recently changed her major to Human Development, and she is really excited about her new path and to get into some upper division college courses in the next year! After helping with a lot of our posters and most of the creative designs for everything Epsilon Alpha Sigma, she is even contemplating getting a minor in Graphic Design.
Rita is extremely kind, and compassionate.  She has great qualities of a leader, is very organized, and is accountable.  If you ever need help with something, or need someone to talk to, Rita is definitely someone you should reach out to.  She is only in her second year of college, but she is seen doing great things in her time at UC Davis and her sisters are excited to see what she will accomplish during the rest of her time in Epsilon Alpha Sigma.

Each year, members of Epsilon Alpha Sigma nominate a fellow dove that has mastered the true principles of being an empowered Arab sister. Below are the past recipients.
